Watermark Privacy Policy

Watermark is an iPad planner and journal made by WakeSwell, LLC. It was built so that your handwriting and your pages stay yours. This policy explains exactly what that means.

We do not collect your data

WakeSwell does not collect, store, see, sell or share anything you write or save in Watermark. The app has no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking or software development kits. We cannot read your pages, and we never receive them.

Where your pages are kept

  • On your iPad. Everything you write, type, draw or add is stored on your device.
  • In your own iCloud, if you choose. With iCloud sync turned on (Settings in the app), your pages sync through your own private iCloud database so they appear on your other devices. That database belongs to your Apple Account. WakeSwell has no access to it. Apple's privacy policy covers how iCloud stores your data.

You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in the app's Settings.

Handwriting search

So you can search what you have handwritten, Watermark reads your ink with Apple's on-device text recognition. This happens entirely on your iPad. Your handwriting is never sent to us or to anyone else for recognition.

Photos

If you add a photo to a vision board, you pick it with Apple's photo picker. Only the photo you pick is copied into Watermark. The app cannot see the rest of your photo library.

Reminders

Reminders you turn on are scheduled on your iPad by the system. We do not run a notification server and receive nothing when a reminder fires.

Backups

If you export a backup, Watermark creates the file only when you ask, and saves it wherever you choose. We never receive a copy.

Deleting your data

Deleting Watermark removes the pages stored on your iPad. To remove pages synced to iCloud, go to Settings on your iPad, tap your name, then iCloud and Manage Account Storage, and delete Watermark's data.

Children

Watermark does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. Because we do not collect your information, a change will never mean we start receiving your pages without telling you first.
