JWalker's Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 5, 2026
J-Walker's is a private app for a single Christian fellowship group. This policy describes what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who can see it, and how to request that we delete it.
Apple Inc. is not responsible for the app or its data practices. This policy applies solely to J-Walker's and WakeSwell, LLC.
WHAT WE COLLECT
When you sign up
- Display name, first name, last name, and preferred name.
- Email address — used to identify your account.
- Password — hashed by Firebase Authentication. We never see the plain text.
- Invite code — the code you used to join, so we can prevent reuse and support access revocation.
- Role — member, admin, or superadmin, assigned at signup based on your invite code.
- Covenant code — a unique 6-digit identifier permanently assigned to your account. Immutable and used within the fellowship.
Your profile
- Avatar color — assigned automatically, changeable in Settings.
- Spouse link — if you link to a spouse in the app, we store their account ID, the handshake request state, and any spouse name you enter at signup before they join. Visible to other fellowship members in relevant contexts.
- Notification preferences — your per-category settings and reminder timing preferences. Stored in your profile in Firebase.
- Calendar sync preferences — your per-category toggle settings. Stored in your profile in Firebase.
- Last-seen timestamps — when you last visited each section of the app. Stored in Firebase. Used to show unread indicators.
Bible Study
- Notes — text you post on the current study, including your name and a timestamp. Visible to all members.
- Note replies — replies you post on others' notes, including your name and a timestamp. Visible to all members.
- Teaching slot claims — if you claim a teaching slot, we store your name and account ID. If you claim it as a couple, your spouse's name and account ID are also stored. Visible to all members.
- Bringing items — what you sign up to bring to a session, including your name and account ID. Visible to all members.
- RSVP responses — your yes, no, or maybe response to a Bible Study session, including your display name and a timestamp. Visible to all members.
- Session feedback — optional feedback you submit after a session. You choose the visibility at submission: Public (your name visible to all members), Admins only (your name visible to admins only), or Anonymous (your name and account ID are not stored at all — we cannot identify who submitted anonymous feedback).
Group Life
- Birthday entries — we always store the month and day. We store the birth year only if the Include Age toggle is turned on. When on, the person's age is visible to all fellowship members. When off, neither the age nor birth year is shown to anyone. Members may enter birthdays for their children as well as themselves.
- Anniversary entries — we store the date and year of a member's marriage anniversary. The number of years is calculated from this and displayed to all fellowship members.
- Baptism entries — we store the date and year of a baptism. The number of years since the baptism is displayed to all fellowship members. An optional personal note may be added; if provided, it is visible to all members. Members may enter baptisms for their children as well as themselves.
Messages
- Direct messages — text messages between you and one other member, including your name, account ID, and timestamp. Visible only to the participants.
- Group threads — messages in a group conversation, including your name, account ID, and timestamp. Visible only to participants in that thread.
- Announcements — messages posted by admins to all members. Visible to all members.
- Read receipts — a timestamp of when you last read each thread. Used to show unread indicators. Visible only to you.
- Messages are permanent. The app does not support editing or deleting individual messages.
Device and local data
- Last-active timestamp — stored only on your device. Used to sign you out automatically after 30 days of inactivity.
- Notification permission state — whether you've granted notification permission on your device.
- Calendar permission state — whether you've granted calendar permission on your device. We use it to add events to your calendar. We never read your existing calendar events.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your phone number, physical location, contacts, device advertising identifiers, or any analytics or behavioral tracking data.
WHY WE COLLECT IT
Strictly to run the app for the fellowship.
- Name and email — so members can recognize each other and admins can manage the group.

- Spouse link — to support couple teaching slots and spouse-aware features.
- Notes, RSVPs, bringing items, teaching claims — these are the core fellowship features the app exists to provide.
- Group Life events — to celebrate milestones together as a fellowship.
- Messages — to let members communicate within the group.
- Notification and calendar preferences — to send you the reminders you've asked for and sync events to your calendar.

- Last-active timestamp — to protect your account on a lost or shared device.
We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising.
WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES
Everything except the last-active timestamp is stored in Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore), operated by Google LLC. Google's data-handling practices apply on top of ours — see Firebase's privacy documentation for details.
The last-active timestamp lives only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Google, as Firebase's operator, can access all data stored in Firebase as part of operating the database infrastructure.
We never share your data with third-party advertisers, data brokers, or anyone outside the fellowship and Google's infrastructure role.
ADMIN ACTION LOG
When admins take significant actions (such as removing a member or revoking access), those actions are logged with the admin's account ID, the affected member's account ID, the action taken, and a timestamp. This log is readable by admins only and is used to maintain accountability within the fellowship leadership.
HOW LONG WE KEEP YOUR DATA
Until you ask us to delete it, or until the app is shut down.
DELETING YOUR DATA
To request deletion of your account and data, email us at privacy@wakeswell.com or ask in person at the next gathering. We will:
- Delete your profile document and account ID from the database.
- Delete or anonymize your Bible Study notes and replies — your choice.
- Remove your name from bringing items, teaching claims, and RSVP records.
- Disable your Firebase Authentication account.
- Remove your Group Life events and any personal notes attached to them.
We aim to complete deletion requests within 7 days.
CHILDREN
J-Walker's is intended for adults only. No one under 18 may create an account or use the app. However, adult members may enter personal milestone information for their children — such as birthdays and baptisms — to share with the fellowship. This data is entered and controlled by the parent, not the child. If you wish to remove your child's information, contact us at privacy@wakeswell.com and we will delete it promptly.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If we materially change what we collect or who we share it with, we'll post an in-app notice and update the date at the top of this page.
